(Freetown: 18th January 2026). The Media Reform Coordinating Group (MRCG) joins the Government and people of Sierra Leone and civil society partners in observing today, 18 January 2026, as the first National Remembrance Day, declared by His Excellency President Dr. Julius Maada Bio. This day of reflection honours the victims, survivors, and families affected by Sierra Leone’s civil war (1991–2002) and reinforces the country’s collective commitment to peace, national unity, and democratic cohesion.
