This First Edition of the MRCG Newsletter covers the first six months of 2022 (January – June 2022). The MRCG continued to implement its activities related to the project “Enhancing Press Freedom and Media Reforms” and launched the project titled ‘Engaging the Media and Communities to Change the Narrative on Transitional Justice (TJ) in Sierra Leone.”
The following activities were implemented across the country, they included:
- Monthly monitoring and reporting on press freedom issues
- Production of the State of Media Freedom Report in Sierra Leone report (2018-2021)
- Support to Three of MRCG’s Member Organizations
- Internal Monitoring and Evaluation on Implementation of MRCG activities.
- Partnership, Engagements and Coordination Meetings
- Regional Training of journalists on Transitional Justice (TJ) issues
- Production of Videos on TJ issues
- Community meetings on TJ issues in Mile 91, Tonkolili District
- Production and launch of TJ Manual.
The MRCG would like to thank NED and the ATJLF for providing the funds used to implement the programs and activities of the MRCG. We look forward to fulfilling the key priorities and objectives of the MRCG in its Media Development Strategy, which will end in 2024. Thanks and appreciation to the Board and Secretariat staff for their support and commitment to the work of the MRCG.
