The Media Reform Coordinating Group (MRCG) expresses keen concern over the threats allegedly made and circulated by Madam Admire Bio, also known as Mama of Freetown, against the journalist and Co-Founder of Truth Media, Ahmadu Lamrana Bah.
The MRCG joins the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ) in condemning the threats against the journalist, as it amounts to a grave attack on press freedom and the safety and security of journalists in their line of work.
MRCG also calls on the Sierra Leone Police to swiftly investigate the matter and ensure the safety of the journalist and other journalists across the country, as such an act hinders media and press freedom – an advocacy the MRCG has championed since its inception. The MRCG would also like to assure the general public that it will monitor the situation closely. In the World Press Freedom Index for 2025, on the safety of journalists, Reporters Without Borders noted that journalists are not immune to harassment; they can also be the target of threats, online intimidation campaigns, and even attempted murder when working on sensitive investigations
