OUR STAFF

NATIONAL COORDINATOR

Dr. Francis Sowa Esq, National Coordinator, Media Reform Coordinating Group (MRCG-SL). He holds numerous degrees ranging from BA (Hons), MA, M.Phil. in Mass Communication and Ph.D. in Communications and Media Studies, Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone. Dr. Sowa has also earned other national and international accolades and has greatly contributed towards the development of the country’s media landscape. Aside his unique leadership qualities, Dr. Sowa teaches at the Mass Communication department of FBC (USL) with over 20 functional years of media experience. He has also worked for reputable institutions like Sierra Leone Broadcasting Services (now Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation) and the Independent Media Commission (IMC). His dedication to serving humanity has brought many success stories to his career and has imparted the lives of many including students and journalists.

HEAD OF FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATION

Yassie Barrie is employed as Head of Finance and Administration. She is in charge of the administration of the Secretariat. She served as student intern at the Fourah Bay College finance department, National Electoral Commission as Polling Agent (2012) and Hotel Mariam as the Accountant. She holds a Certificate in Population Studies (Distinction) and a Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree in Accounting and Finance from Fourah Bay College (USL), Masters of Science in Accounting (Njala University, Sierra Leone. She has wealth of professional experience in Accounting and Finance.

HEAD OF PROGRAMMES

Augustine Squire James is the Head of Programs for the Media Reform Coordinating Group (MRCG). He has participated in a number of media projects ranging from the coordination of the Secretariat’s events in different communities, to build the capacity of media practitioners across the country. Composed and self-possessed, Augustine has a leadership voice and a sense of boldness in all his duties. He holds a Masters of Arts in Mass Communication and Development Studies, B.A (Hons) and Diploma with Distinction in Mass Communications, Fourah Bay College (USL). Augustine also has wealth of administrative experience and leadership skills.   

PROJECT OFFICER


Patricia Christiana Sankoh holds a BA Honours in Mass Communication from Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone, and a BSc in Information Technology from Amity University (PAN African). She is currently pursuing an MBA. Patricia has also earned diplomas in Project Management, PC Hardware Engineering (A+), and Information Technology, along with a certificate in Microsoft Office Packages. Her professional experience spans internships with AD Media Sierra Leone Limited, the American Embassy, and the National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT). She has worked as a Cash Teller at Access Bank Limited, Receptionist/Communications Officer at Crown University College, and Secretary at Taylor and Associates. Now serving as a Project Officer at MRCG-SL, Patricia is known for her creative project management, excellent social and problem-solving skills, and expertise in technology. Patricia continues to focus on enhancing her professional skills and contributing to impactful projects.

PROGRAMS ASSISTANT

Ishiaka Sannoh is a motivated professional from Sierra Leone with a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication and a National Diploma in Media and Journalism studies from Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone. He is proficient in multiple languages, including English, Krio, and Mende. His expertise spans from journalism, editing, media relations, research, and crisis communication, combined with strong leadership and communication abilities. Sannoh demonstrates a target-oriented approach that is highly adaptable, and consistently delivers results on time and in challenging environments. He has extensive experience working with the Media Reform Coordinating Group (MRCG) in various capacities. His responsibilities have included organizing training sessions, coordinating media monitoring, compiling reports, and supporting project implementation. Earlier in his career, he had served as a Presiding Officer for the National Electoral Commission in the 2012 General elections. His skills and experience are complemented by his hobbies, including research, reading, adventure and watching movies, reflecting his curiosity and continuous learning approach.

FINANCE ASSISTANT

Marion Conteh is the Finance Assistant for the MRCG. She holds a B.Sc in Applied Accounting and had previously worked at the First Discount House, as the Account Officer. She assists with the day-to-day financial administration of the office.

PROGRAMS ASSISTANT

Ousman Sesay works at the MRCG as the Programs Assistant. He had was previously the Regional and National Media Monitor of the MRCG. He holds a B.A in Mass Communication and Journalism Studies, from the University of Sierra Leone.

NATIONAL MEDIA MONITOR

Saidu I. Kamara is MRCG’s National Media Monitor. He started working at the MRCG in 2022 as a Mentee on the ATJLF project. Since then, he has worked in various capacities and currently the National Media Monitor. He is a graduate of Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone with a B.A (Hons) in Mass Communications.

OFFICE ASSISTANT

Morlai Kargbo is MRCG’s Office Assistant. He holds a WAEC Certificate and currently studying at the University of Sierra Leone.
